I like Liz, too, but I think it should probably end with her. There’s simply no rational justification for hereditary monarchies in a modern society. I’m all for an apolitical head of state (I think Ireland have it right; the last thing you want is rampant politicking at the very top level), just not by virtue of birth.

The Royal Family did not invade Iraq and I am in no position to know if the entire British public “became angry”. Mother Teresa may have conducted herself in what she viewed as a godly way but she has been criticized for her views on birth control..thus the subjectivity. As someone who admires the Late Diana I think it is fair to say that people love her for her humanity and foibles -not for purity.

Sorry to say, but England did invade another country with the U.S.A.(Iraq). When the investigation was made public, that they invaded under false reports. The British population became angry. Saw it on BBC. Pure of heart, is a person who is honest and does good without expecting anything in return. You are right people like Mother Teresa and the late princess Diana there qualities were subjective. Don’t get angry, I’m only going with what you said. And you are right again we should leave such sorts to Lake Poets. Your words not mine. I’m really troubling you, aren’t I? What’s life without a little trouble? That is what makes life so interesting. You don’t need to respond. Nice mailing you.

I suppose we should stop buying German cars and Japanese electronics then. History is full of examples of exploitation on every continent. \i never understand the looking back in anger scenario as it roils the waters of the present and leads to that “if our government is bad blame the colonials” scenario that makes my eyes roll back in my head. The victim culture serves the interests of no one and seems more of a convenient way to skirt responsibility. Last time I checked the present Royal family is not actively looting any treasury or invading anyone.

As to the pure of heart etc…I think such qualities are entirely subjective. I prefer reality and real people – I will leave dealing with such sorts to the Lake Poets.

Well! you certainly have showed your feelings and emotions for HRH, and the monarchy which she belongs too. But please remember the past, shapes the present and the future. You cannot forget that country invaded and looted the wealth of other countries, to sustain and maintain itself. Still happens, no problem in feeling that way about her. So what if you actually meet someone who is pure in heart mind and soul. Full of innocence, a person of divine like qualities and personality.What would be your reaction and feelings towards that person? Trust me people like that do exist, they are just very rare and hard too find. So tell me Mr. Globewriter.

I was born and grown up in Trinidad, I still live here. I still don’t get carnival. What is it’s purpose? How did it come about? How does having carnival make a person or a country a better place? I understand Divali, being a hindu. Divali sends a message of peace, it teaches you evil never succeds. It teaches you to be honest, which is really hard,(lays a good guilt trip on you). Look at what happens in this country when Divali comes around. Divali sends a message on it’s arrival. Can you tell me what message carnival sends on it’s arrival? Apart from half naked men and women,drinking and the ill’s that comes with it. please tell me the good of it?
