Jurassic LGBT Views Of The Pentecostal Assemblies Of The West Indies

I really wouldn’t recommend  watching the entire two dreary hours of this rubbish but it shows the level  of close-minded imbecility that exists. That some of the panelists hold positions at universities etc is more disturbing than I wish to discuss. The first speaker from Barbados speaks of the unbelievable chutzpah of LGBT people to now demand the same civil rights as everyone else. “Wikipedia is not on our side anyhow” – as he  reads from the entry.

As a rule, once you see ‘gay agenda’  you can safely assume you are dealing with misguided religious zealots.

Transgender Sensitivity

Spent the evening watching a panel discussion about Transgender issues and sensitivity from Toronto ( yes I am Canadian) hosted by Xtra Canada . The panel was (apparently) a reaction to insensitive comments made by someone at Xtra.  It was informative though rather disappointing since I never actually heard Xtra apologizing.

Right after the live stream I saw a tweet from BACK2STONEWALL which promoted the headline “Oh Sweet Cookie Jesus – Conservative Religious Groups Boycott Girl Scout Cookies Over Trans Inclusive Rule”. Naturally, I had to read it and discovered that it really was true.

World Net Daily (Which I won’t link to because I don’t want them to get extra traffic) and other conservative religious groups are running to the aid of a 14 year  Girl Scout who is upset that The Girl Scouts organization policy is allowing transgender girls to join and so she is calling for the BOYCOTT of Girl Scout cookies and the conservative religious organizations are supporting her.

Read the rest on BACK2STONEWALL here.

I am not going to say much about the hateful thoughts going through that girl’s head as she is a minor but I think she needs to spend a bit more time  thinking about the feelings of others and less about her own selfish and bigoted views. Comments and likes/dislikes have been disabled on the video which at the time of this writing had about 700 hits.

Not to be daunted, however, one young transgender person made a comprehensive video of his own and posted it.  Sometimes when you wonder about the future you see it right in front of you – and it looks a whole lot brighter.

My response to this video,…, in which a girl scout by the name of Taylor calls for a boycott of Girl Scout cookies because the organization welcomes transgender kids.

I am proud to say I support the struggles of the transgender community throughout the world  for acceptance and equality.

Hacker group Anonymous takes aim at Westboro Baptist crazies.

Rightly feared and completely invisible hacker group Anonymous has decided that they are fed-up of the ongoing circus that is the publicity whore  Westboro Baptist Church.

We, the collective super-consciousness known as ANONYMOUS – the Voice of Free Speech & the Advocate of the People – have long heard you issue your venomous statements of hatred, and we have witnessed your flagrant and absurd displays of inimitable bigotry and intolerant fanaticism. We have always regarded you and your ilk as an assembly of graceless sociopaths and maniacal chauvinists & religious zealots, however benign, who act out for the sake of attention & in the name of religion.
Being such aggressive proponents for the Freedom of Speech & Freedom of Information as we are, we have hitherto allowed you to continue preaching your benighted gospel of hatred and your theatrical exhibitions of, not only your fascist views, but your utter lack of Christ-like attributes. You have condemned the men and women who serve, fight, and perish in the armed forces of your nation; you have prayed for and celebrated the deaths of young children, who are without fault; you have stood outside the United States National Holocaust Museum, condemning the men, women, and children who, despite their innocence, were annihilated by a tyrannical embodiment of fascism and unsubstantiated repugnance. Rather than allowing the deceased some degree of peace and respect, you instead choose to torment, harass, and assault those who grieve.
Your demonstrations and your unrelenting cascade of disparaging slurs, unfounded judgments, and prejudicial innuendos, which apparently apply to every individual numbered amongst the race of Man – except for yourselves – has frequently crossed the line which separates Freedom of Speech from deliberately utilizing the same tactics and methods of intimidation and mental & emotional abuse that have been previously exploited and employed by tyrants and dictators, fascists and terrorist organizations throughout history.

ANONYMOUS cannot abide this behavior any longer. The time for us to be idle spectators in your inhumane treatment of fellow Man has reached its apex, and we shall now be moved to action. Thus, we give you a warning: Cease & desist your protest campaign in the year 2011, return to your homes in Kansas, & close your public Web sites.
Should you ignore this warning, you will meet with the vicious retaliatory arm of ANONYMOUS: We will target your public Websites, and the propaganda & detestable doctrine that you promote will be eradicated; the damage incurred will be irreversible, and neither your institution nor your congregation will ever be able to fully recover. It is in your best interest to comply now, while the option to do so is still being offered, because we will not relent until you cease the conduction & promotion of all your bigoted operations & doctrines.

The warning has been given. What happens from here shall be determined by you.

I wish I made this crap up – Christians sue over persecution.

Honestly, just when I think I have seen everything comes this strange story. It seems that Eunice and Owen Johns, the smiling couple pictured above, want to be foster parents. They were miffed when social workers determined that their disapproval of  homosexuality was not in the best interest of kids. This would seem a no-brainer to me. Why would a social agency put young kids in a home where, if they happened to be LGBT, they would be made to feel they were going straight to hell?  It happens in regular families, of course, but given a choice a government agency would be foolish to deliberately allow such a situation and might even be subject to legal action by the kid eventually for putting them in that environment knowingly.

More importantly, the UK has Sexual Orientation Regulations and the Equality Act which codify the need to ensure kids are not faced with  such things as the state exposing them  to being made to feel they are intrinsically flawed. Undaunted by such attempts by the state to protect kids from their bigotry the couple have decided to sue to guarantee they have the right to maintain their perceived right to potentially persecute any kids placed in their ‘care’. I truly hope the court makes the obviously correct decision.

The part that puzzles me most  is the insistence that they are being persecuted for their religious beliefs. You can certainly have your religious beliefs ( bigoted though they may be) but when they conflict with legislated equality then you most certainly cannot have kids exposed to you. Their lawyer says:

‘The promotion of values is something that the court should be protecting,’ he said. ‘People have a wide range of views, but the only views that are being singled out for conflict are the views of homosexual people. The Christian viewpoint, if the courts don’t protect it, will be vanquished in this country.’

And I suppose the courts should also be protecting the believers in a flat earth or maybe the skinheads? No, I don’t think so. If a gay or lesbian couple said they didn’t approve of heterosexuality I would say the same thing. Kids need to be allowed to blossom into whatever they are. And just when I was recovering from the statement of their lawyer I deal with their rationalization using the argument :

‘Valuing diversity does not mean that you cannot have a disagreement or do not respect a person while not valuing certain lifestyles. The court must be mindful that these public policy objectives are not used to trump fundamental rights.’

Not valuing certain lifestyles? Really? I can’t get my head around that concept. So I can value diversity while thinking someone is fundamentally flawed? Really? How does that work? The certain ‘lifestyles’ thing totally floors me.  So the KKK can respect black people and have a disagreement with them but not value them?  Just say you are an ignorant bigot and feel you have a right to be protected for it.

Maybe they have a bit of nostalgia for ancient Rome.

I especially like their last picture that says we are haters but we like to show that we love each other.
